Mactan Rock Goes Greener this Year
December 17, 2017
On Wednesday, December 6, 2017, Mactan Rock, a water treatment chemical manufacturer and reputable water provider, conducted a tree planting activity as part of their Annual Conference celebration. More than 300 Mactan Rock employees from all over the Philippines gave back to Mother Nature by planting trees. This nationwide green campaign is part of their social responsibility, forest rehabilitation and environmental obligations in accordance with this year’s theme, “Save our water, love the Earth.”
Branches in Cebu, Tacloban, Cabadbaran, Iloilo, Aparri and Coron joined the cause and all together planted trees to contribute to this green program.
Under Executive Order 26, S.2011, the National Greening Program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) requires all students and government employees to plant a minimum of 10 seedlings per year and encourages the private sector and civil society groups to participate in the endeavor.
Over a thousand seedlings of various tree species was evenly distributed and planted in key locations. In Cebu, the tree planting was done in Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City. The place was a former dumping station of all kinds of garbage and is now turned into a lovely and scenic Eco Park. In Tacloban, the Mactan Rock team went to the outskirts to replant trees where illegal loggers often times cut them.
Living their strong belief in a sound environment, they contribute to the well-being of not just the stakeholders and employees of Mactan Rock, but also the communities they serve. As quoted from Lucy Lorcam, “He who plants a tree, plants a hope.”
